Northern Adventures:
1-Day Dempster Highway Road Trip

The Dempster Highway is one of northern Canada's undiscovered, yet readily
accessible wonders. Few people, even Yukoners, venture into the Arctic, but the Dempster provides
a quick look at that incredibly beautiful world.
Renting a 4-wheel-drive SUV is recommended for the Dempster, as most of it is gravel and can sometimes get rough
after a spell of wet weather (which isn't common). Vehicle expenses for the day will run $450-500 including rental, insurance and fuel.
If you would prefer to have a guide, just send Rob an email.
On the Dempster, it's a good idea to just "go with the flow" rather than decide on a specific spot
to turn around. There is so much to see that any drive, no matter how short, will be unforgettable.
For many people, the dramatic Tombstone Mountains (seen above) are the focus, others go across North Fork Pass to Chapman Lake for a look at the subarctic tundra, and a few
who get good conditions and don't mind a very long day go to the Arctic Circle (almost 560 miles return from Dawson City).
