Experience the beauty and peace of Lake Laberge and the Yukon River by kayak.
Using our
21-foot Carolina Skiff as "mothership", we travel this beautiful lake, stopping, camping and
kayaking when we choose.
The Yukon is one of Canada's premier kayaking destinations. Sunny and dry
weather is the norm in this semi-arid region
(click here to see Yukon weather averages
from years past). It is one of the last unspoiled wilderness areas left
in the world - the air and water are pristine, helping make it a
paradise for both photographers and fishermen. Camp on any of the endless beaches and enjoy
campfires with incredible vistas and no neighours!
With up to 22 hours a day of sunlight to enjoy it all, this is truly a journey to refresh the
soul.
We offer adventures ranging from
one day to a week or more in duration.
We provide camping gear, meals and kayak - and, of course, a highly experienced guide
(to see some of our fish recipes, click here).
Our trips are designed to accommodate the
novice kayaker - you don't have to be a pro. We can teach you everything you need to know for safe and
enjoyable kayaking in a fun-filled two-hour session.
Rates:
- $275 (Canadian) per person per day, based on 3 or more people. A small surcharge
will apply to smaller groups.

5-Day Kayaking Adventure
On this trip, we use our custom-built Carolina Skiff as "mothership," travelling
the waters of Lake Laberge and the Thirty Mile River. This beautiful pristine lake is
nestled in the mountains approximately a one-hour drive north of Whitehorse. Thirty miles
in length and 7 miles across, it features gorgeous protected bays, endless beaches,
great fishing and the kind of beauty and solitude we all long for.
We spend our days kayaking
the shores of this wilderness lake, camping where we please - enjoying campfires with incredible
vistas, beachcombing and hiking - relaxing and enjoying fine food. Our journey will take us
to the north end of the lake and the beginning of the famous Thirty Mile River. We now have
the opportunity to kayak a swift, crystal clear northern river that was described by National
Geographic as "30 miles of magic." It is a safe but exciting paddle. Once at the lower end
of the river we will camp beside an abandoned goldrush sternwheeler (the Evelyn) pulled
up on an island some 90 years ago - amazingly, we can still walk her decks today!
In the
morning we will load our kayaks on top of the mothership for an exciting ride back upstream to Lake
Laberge, wending our way home at our leisure. This is truly a journey to rest and refresh
the soul.
The opportunity also exists to extend the trip above to 6 or 7, or to
paddle on both Lake Laberge and Kusawa Lake,
a true wilderness lake 1½ hours west of Whitehorse where our log cabin
click here to see it) provides the perfect base for exploring.
Kusawa offers more experienced kayakers sandy beaches, great fishing, and mountains that seem
to drop straight into the lake.
