A boat-sopported wilderness canoe trip in the Yukon
Wonderful cozy Cabin....beautiful setting ... great view & fall has arrived! Introduction to the Yukon RIver via a 2 day canoe trip on the fabulous 30 mile & Rob's culinary expertise was a highlight of our trip to the Yukon. Memories of this adventure join with other adventures throught the BC & Alaska to truly leave us with a 'Spirit of the North'. All the best Rob & many thanks.

    At Spirit of the North, we offer guided canoe trips with a difference. For those who enjoy the adventure of paddling their own canoe but want to see a lot in a relatively short period of time we offer boat-supported canoe trips.

    These unique trips allow you, the adventurer, the option of doing a fairly long scenic river trip in a relatively short period of time. The addition of a boat capable of carrying canoes allows us, for example, to cover Lake Laberge on our way to Carmacks in a couple of hours, putting you on the river in your canoe in a short period of time. Other stretches of river you may not wish to paddle can also be covered quickly and in comfort, allowing you to paddle as much as you want, where you want. Your guide will keep the support boat well behind you, out of sight and sound but close enough to provide for your comfort and safety.

    Unlike most wilderness trips we can accommodate a wide range of ages and skill levels.The most senior adventurer to travel with us so far has been Frank Chapman of Arizona, who joined us for a four-day trip down the Yukon River.

Canoeing fun in the Yukon!     Canoeing instruction is provided. In less than an hour we can teach you the skills necessary to enjoy the lakes and rivers we travel on. For your enjoyment we use custom built, stable, light-weight canoes that are a joy to paddle.

We feel that our trips offer the best of both worlds:
  • A true wilderness adventure by canoe, in comfort and solitude;
  • The luxury and safety of having a professional guide.

    Each of our custom built Carolina Skiffs will carry 3 canoes up top out of our way. The addition of a boat also allows the luxury of carrying a huge variety of gourmet food - your guide is an expert wilderness cook. For the fisherman there is world class fishing on the river, for Arctic grayling & Northern pike. Heading down Lake Laberge, Yukon

    Since we couldn't possibly improve on the Yukon's scenery, we focus on your comfort:

Gourmet meals in the wilderness!
Winner of 2004 Golden Host Award

  • a covered boat with walk-through windshield;
  • comfortable padded seats for everyone;
  • extra-roomy, top-quality sleeping bags, and tents uniquely suited to the North;
  • extra-thick Therma-rest mattresses;
  • 120-volt and 12-volt charging systems on the boats, for your camera and other batteries;
  • folding camp chairs for around the campfires;
  • gourmet food cooked over an open fire;
  • mature, licenced professional guides.

Our customized Carolina skiff with a canoe mounted on top - first trip in May.     Is there more? Why sure - there's not even any need to worry about the weather! The Yukon is noted for its warm, dry summers (click here to see Yukon weather averages from years past).

    For information on what you need to bring with you on a trip with us, see our gear list.
